Subject: DO NOT court-martial Christian troops
Dear [Your Congressman/Senator Inserted Here]
This petition requests that you KEEP the good section 530 of NDAA 2014 to protect our troops FREE SPEECH and RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. Please investigate and demand a full retraction of the Pentagon statement of intent to court-martial troops who dare to talk publicly about their faith in Jesus Christ. “Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense," LCDR Nate Christensen said in a written statement. He declined to say if any chaplains or service members had been prosecuted for such an offense. “Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the outcome in specific cases,” he said.
Family Research Council reports indicate that senior Pentagon officials have recently consulted with radical secularists to formulate a policy that would put military chaplains and other leaders who "promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to extend preferential treatment for any religion" in danger of court-martial. Our brave troops deserve better. Subverting the religious freedom of our troops both hurts the morale of our troops and puts our nation at risk by labeling courageous military personnel as enemies.
PLEASE DEMAND THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE resist the demands of anti-Christian activists who are calling for a court-martial order upon chaplains and service members who share their faith. If Christian chaplains and other troops are censored from offering the full solace of the Gospel, there is no religious freedom in the military. Our troops deserve the same freedom of religious expression they sacrifice to give others, and you must never violate your oath to defend the First Amendment, which protects free religious speech, not the easily offended ears of anti-Christian persecutors.
